One of my friend is in Christchurch on employer assisted work visa(welding) of one year. Today his employer has told him that he will issue a written warning for termination after a week for him due to the dissatisfaction from his work. What should he do ? Kindly tell the best n fast process. Your advice will be highly valued.kindly do not disclose my name.
If your friend is being terminated during his 90 days trial period, then he may be eligible to apply for a special visitor visa for such a situation. He may be granted up to 3 months visitor visa during which he may search for a new employment.
If your friend is not on his 90 days trial period, then he must make a plan of applying for a further visa as soon as possible. At the same time, it is his obligation to inform Immigration New Zealand of his change of circumstances so that he is not considered in breach of his visa conditions. Immigration New Zealand compliance team may grant a grace period to your friend so that he could apply for his new visa if he finds a new job soon. However, if he doesn’t find a new job, then he may have to apply for a different visa (which suits his intentions to remain in NZ) or to leave New Zealand and then apply for a new visa.
