Hi there, hope you are safe and sound. I work in Healthcare/Disability sector as a caregiver and my position is Community Support Worker since October 2015 and my pay rate is $25.50. In this circumstance, am I eligible to apply for residency or I need to apply for Work Visa? Would you please help me? Thank you.
Hi there,
Yes, we are safe and we hope that you keep safe while working in the frontline.
New Zealand work visa (temporary visa category) and residence visa are not mutually exclusive and you can apply for both. You must ensure that you have a valid temporary visa to remain in the country while you await a decision on your residence application.
You meet the salary threshold of $25.50 for the skilled migrant residence category, if you have 160 points and meet the English language requirements then you would be eligible to apply for an expression of interest under Skilled Migrant Residence. You need to make sure that your job duties substantially match with the ANZSCO description of one of the occupations which is either a skill level 1,2,3 occupation or is on the Appendix 7 exception list.
Kind regards,
Malkiat Singh
